More Than Meets The Eye

Finally saw the TRANSFORMERS movie. I thought it was great. Yeah there was some cheesy moments (almost entirely in regards to Optimus Prime’s dialogue) but I had a blast watching this flick. Loves the whole Used Car Lot scene with Bumble Bee and the Volkswagon Bug. That’s the kind of tongue-in-cheek humor I like that gives a nod to the Transformers history without disrupting the flow of the movie. Those who don’t know that the original Bumble Bee action figure from Hasbro was a VW Bug still find the scene amusing as he appears here in the film instead as a Camaro. I have to applaud the screenwriter for his script that gave a credible reason for these alien robots being on Earth without going overboard on details and boring a crowd expecting an action film. And action a plenty there was. While the miniature decepticons annoyed me with their lack of phyical resemblance to known Transformers, the big guys looked awesome. The filmmakers didn’t have to make their dielogue lame, harkened back to the 1980s cartoon, but I thought the visual aspects more than made up for it and thakfully said dialogue was sparse in these scenes. Kudos to Shia LeBeoufand Megan Fox for believable acting with CGI characters and a quick nod to Josh Duhamel who also turned a respectable performance. I could have done without Voight, Turturro and Anthony Anderson though.  TRANSFORMERS was totally worth the coin despite it’s flaws.
