Prop 8 = Oppression
Having lived in California I am embarrassed and appalled by the passage of Prop 8 in that state. Not allowing the government to recognize same sex marriages is oppression at its simplest form. A majority of voters in California actually had the gall to tell people they don’t have the same rights as everyone else on an issue that affects them not at all. This wasn’t a religious issue mind you. Because there are plenty of religions who will marry gay couples. This was the people instilling their religious beliefs on our government to oppress and hinder. The government only started recognizing marriages from a legal standpoint so they could charge us for the license. It has nothing to do with the compatibility or religion of the couple. This was petty and small-minded and if you think you were right to pass this vote, you should take a good look in the mirror and ask yourselves wht this issue has so mmuch in common with race issues. Because it’s wrong for you to judge another person in such a manner. If you are trying to better this world we live in, hurting other people and keeping them from enjoying the same benefits you enjoy isn’t the way to go about it. And I don’t believe in any God that tells you it is.
