Movie Trilogies: Good or Evil?
Remember when Trilogies were good? Yeah me either. Other than the Classic Star Wars movies I can’t think of anything that was consistently good. And even Lucas almost blew that with the darn Ewoks. I mean let’s face it. They set the standard for movie trilogies but it was The Matrix that brought them back into style… and they sucked. The first one was ground breaking in terms of story and fx. But they blew it on all counts with the second and third. Redundant fx and a confusing storyline that backtracked, muddled, and ignored the really cool stuff from the first. Spider-Man and X-Men both successfully built on their first films to bring about superior sequels… and then trying to keep up witht he whole trilogy feel they put out a third average film. I just took my niexe to see Shrek the Third (which is where this whole train of thought started) and while I laughed more than her, when the movie ended I was left with a feeling of - eh. While the jokes had me rolling the story left me cold. Maybe its time for the studios to stop forcing inferior product on us just to make money. Of course the only way for that to happen is for the viewing public to stop supporting these movies making gobs of money but rather get them to start these sequels with a quality script.
